🦋 Secret History

Lots to say about Juan Gabriel Vásquez' new book -- I have no time to post right now but just want to say (midway through) that this is an absolutely captivating read and you should put it on your list.

Thanks for the recommendation. The new library GUI wouldn't let me request it -- maybe because there were already six other requesters in the queue. Fortunately the old GUI is still accessible....so sometime in the next few months I'll get the email from sfpl.org, and wonder when and why I picked the book.

Great! Well I should be posting more about it over the next little while, hopefully enough that when you do get it the title will ring a bell. But either way, you will start reading it and be happy you picked it out for whatever reason. (I have a similar thing with movies -- a disk comes from Netflix and Ellen asks, "Why this one?" and I remember somebody on a blog somewhere was recommending it as the best thing since the advent of the moving picture, but who or where I have no idea.)
