Caminante

en aquellos días enseñaba el maestro de Tarca
decía que sea conveniente y recto
escuchar
que tenga cosa importante
para nosotros
a entender
y escuchamos bien en verdad
entendimos algunos
y no le hicimos a él ningún caso otros

decía que no debe ser marinero
quien quiere dejar rastro

que las huellas humanas sean
estelas
en la mar

y nos daba sus
bendiciones
para la pesca

In those days el maestro de Tarca was teaching
he told us what was fitting, what was right
would be to listen
that he had an important lesson
for us
to learn
and here's the truth, we listened
some of us got it
and some didn't pay attention

he told us you should not be a sailor
if you want to leave a trail behind you

that human traces
are just wakes
upon the sea

and he gave us
his blessings
for the catch
