  • I place a fairly low priority on, but am theoretically interested in, learning about Minoan/Mycenaean civilization and Greek Mythology; some resources for this are The Minoan-Mycenaean Religion and Its Survival in Greek Religion by Martin Nilsson; Primitive Culture in Greece by H. J. Rose; Prolegomena for the Study of Greek Religion by J. E. Harrison; and I should look at the introduction to Fagles' translation of the Iliad for some more contemporary sources.
  • The Bacchae of Euripides, for learning about the cult of Bacchus and the Orphic philosophers.
  • Early Greek Philosophy and From Thales to Plato by John Burnet.
  • Herodotus' history of the Persian Wars.
  • Chapter IV of Les Philosophes Géomètres de la Grèce (hopefully translated), by Gaston Milhaud, and The Greek Atomists and Epicurus, by Cyril Bailey, for learning about atomism.
