🦋 Pictures

I finally learned a bit of how to use the digital camera Ellen got recently, and in so doing posted some new photographs to our family album, the first in a while. I took a bunch of pictures of our garden, which I've been spending a lot of time enjoying lately; also some of Sylvia; and Sylvia has been taking some pictures of her own, mostly of our dogs.

A couple of new pictures in the family album -- long time since I've put any photos up! There is a shot of Sylvia in her costume before her dance recital, and with her class ready for the recital. On the way home we came through Jersey City, and Sylvia and Kaydi found some big chess pieces to play with. On the 4th of July, Sylvia rode in the bike parade, and was proud of her prize ribbon. And here is the writing desk which we built a few posts down.

🦋 Vacation photos

Herewith, a selection of snapshots from our stay in Tuscany:

• Sylvia samples the local product.
• A statue in the Boboli Gardens grabbed my attention. Here is a long view.
• A bridge over the Arno, and Sylvia sitting in front of it.
• Ellen got two very nice shots of Florence while she was in the Bargello museum: a bell tower, and the Palazzo Vecchio.
• In the piazza in Lucca, we saw a house of cards.
• Nearly every day, we visited the playground in Impruneta.
• In the place we were staying, Sylvia's favorite activities were watching the chickens and the horses. And mugging for the camera; and writing home to her friends.

I tried my hand at using some of the advanced features on Ellen's camera. The results were mixed but I got a couple of nice evening landscape photos from our terrace:

• Sunset.
• Dusk.
• Night time -- the lights of Florence in the distance.
• The clouds moving in.
