READIN

Jeremy's journal

Finding a way to talk about the reading experience is, I've realised, the greatest pleasure of writing; where it ends is of no importance.

🦋 A collection of starlings is called a murmuration

(And don't miss Nomad Soul Collective's original music)

In Portland starlings gathered in trees in large groups make an enormous racket you can hear two blocks a way. But if you go to the bottom of the tree and make a loud noise, they will instantly go silent. If you wait a minute or so they'll start up again, but if you make a loud noise again they're shut up again. Eventually they'll fly away, and you can follow the flock to their new tree and do the same thing again.

It was a fun afternoon. And starlings are mean, greedy shits, so I feel no guilt whatsoever.
